The chart above serves only as a classification. This is because there are other determining factors involved to determine if a hand is good or bad on a certain situation. The important factors to take notice are the number of players, your position, and what previous players have done before your turn.
To figure out the importance of positions, you would need to divide a table with 10 players into 3 sections.
1. Early Position - the first 3 to 5 players after the dealer button.
2. Middle Position - the 5th to 7th players seated after the dealer button.
3. Late Position - 7th to 10th player seated after the dealer button.
Position is important in the game of Texas Holdem Poker to know what cards to hold or fold because knowledge of your opponents is a must. A player to the left of the small blind will be the first to decide to play or not.
The 1st player who decides will only have information on his own pocket cards. This makes it risky to play hands ranked 4-7 from above. If you are on a late position you have the advantage of having a good idea to play your cards or not.
The final advice to follow is simply not play hands ranked 6-9 from the chart above. A novice may think that A+9 is a great hand. But by following the chart mentioned above, you'll know how high the chance of winning with that hand in Texas Holdem Poker.
